It is my supreme pleasure to welcome you to the web page of the College of Arts (COA) at the University of Mkar, Mkar, Benue State, Nigeria. The College was officially established in 2020. It is my desire that the students acquire sound knowledge and skills that would make them productive and useful to themselves, their families and the wider society.
At the College, students are given moral training to become moral agents for change and development of humanity. Through our training, students are developed to gain inspiration to offer solutions to challenges in the contemporary society. The College is making efforts to add up more degree programs and co-curricular activities that reflect current societal needs, career opportunities and students’ intellectual interests, as well as facilitate students’ self-discovery.
In tandem with the mission of the University of Mkar and the ongoing rebranding program introduced in the University by the current VC, Prof. Zacharys Anger Gundu, I welcome you all to the College of Arts, University of Mkar, Mkar, to acquire and share the experiences that are relevant for a productive global, national and local community.
BRIEF HISTORY OF THE COLLEGE OF ARTS
The College of Arts was established and approved by National Universities Commission in the year 2020 with Dr. Doofan Bulaun as the first Dean. In 2022, Rev. Simon I. Aaende PhD was appointed as the second Dean of the College. Regarding its relevance, there are two departments within the College of Arts— Department of English and other Languages, and Department of Religion and Philosophy with the following academic programmes;

VISION AND MISSION OF THE COLLEGE
The vision of the college is to mold lives of young and old to meet their Godly desired goals and also to develop and enhance awareness of values, contributions and potentials of their own social, cultural and spiritual environment.
The mission of the college is to equip the students with moral training to become moral agents for change and development of humanity. At the college of Arts, students are developed to gain inspiration to offer solutions to diverse challenges of human existence in the contemporary society.

LAND MARK ACHIEVEMENTS
The College of Arts was established and commissioned in 2020. Within this short time, the college mounted two departments: Department of Religion and Philosophy and the Department of English and other Languages, with three-degree programmes of B.A. Religion, B.A. Philosophy, and B.A. English respectively. The College admitted her pioneer set of students in 2021/2022 academic session, and is yet to graduate students. Our pioneer students are already in their second year.
