Dear Aspirants,

I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to all of the students who have chosen to pursue a career in the Health Science, which is highly esteemed and requires compassion and dedication.

University of Mkar College of Health Sciences is equipped with qualified and competent Lecturers, good physical infrastructure, Library and most importantly students get opportunity for clinical learning in parent teaching hospital, Mkar Hospital with 250 + beds. We conduct various educational activities like seminars, workshops, conferences and educative gatherings in order to prepare globally competitive health practitioners to serve the human society.

I welcome all the budding Nurses, Physiologists, Lab Scientists, etc. to join their hands in this noble profession in our institute for their academic journey to turn out as successful professionals.

B.Sc. Human Anatomy

Focused on the structural organization of the human body, preparing students for careers in health research, teaching, and medical practice support.

B.Sc. Human Physiology

Designed to provide deep understanding of body functions, suitable for careers in health science research, pharmaceutical industries, and medical pathways.

B.Sc. Public Health

Training students to prevent disease, promote health, and improve community wellbeing through evidence-based public health practices.

B.Sc. Orthotics & Prosthetics

Developing professionals skilled in designing, fabricating, and fitting supportive and artificial limbs to enhance patient mobility and rehabilitation.

BNSc. Nursing Science

Equipping nurses with strong clinical, ethical, and leadership competence for modern nursing and global health practice.

BMLS. Medical Laboratory Science

Preparing students for advanced diagnostic science, laboratory management, and critical roles in modern medical investigation.

Entry Requirements

The current approved entry requirement is a JAMB score of at least 200 and five (5) O’level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at not more than two (2) sittings from any of the following:

  • West African Examination Council (WAEC),
  • National Examination Council (NECO)

Any student with foreign examination board result(s) is expected to submit an evaluation report or equivalent grading from the Federal Ministry of Education along with the result.

The current approved entry requirement is a JAMB score of at least 200 and five (5) O’level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at not more than two (2) sittings from any of the following:

  • West African Examination Council (WAEC),
  • National Examination Council (NECO)
  1. Pass at Credit level in five subjects namely: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at G.C.E. (Ordinary Level), Senior Secondary School Certificate, (or NECO) obtained at not more than two sittings.
  2. An acceptable score of atleast 180 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board Examination.

Candidates for direct entry to 200 Level  must:

  1. Obtain acceptable passes at the IJMB/JUPEB in at least three science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) OR
  2. Be a Registered Nurse or Midwife with five credits at Ordinary Level G.C.E. or WASC which must include English Language, Mathematics and the followings Physics, Chemistry and Biology at not more than two sittings. Any post-basic nursing diploma is an added advantage.
